In February of 1986, the original Legend of Zelda was released in Japan on the Famicon (AKA the original Nintendo console).  Produced by the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto himself, the game was inspired by his boyhood adventures around Kyoto.  Going on to become one of the most highly praised video game franchises of all time, it’s crazy to know that Link has been braving devious dungeons, saving Princess Zelda, and defeating Ganon for longer than many people have been alive!  Seeing as the series first debuted in North America in August (albeit a year later in 1987…), we thought this would be a great month to look back over our own thoughts on the series that shaped our childhoods and our gaming preferences well into our adult years.

So for the entire month of August, Cary, Hatm0nster, and I (The Duck) will be scouring our old Zelda posts from the last 10+ years of blogging to see how much our own opinions have held strong or how much they have morphed into something entirely new.  And boy, I sure know I’ve changed and grown about as much as our green-clad hero has!  Topics can range anywhere from spookiest spooks in the series to favorite items, revisiting our discussions from the 35th anniversary, or how our love has grown or faded for specific games of the series, whether it be the retro titles from the 80’s and 90’s to the newer, open-world entries on the Switch.  The celebration, and reminiscing, will begin tomorrow, August 4, so be sure to join us throughout the month, dear readers!  And if you’re so inclined, you can always visit the comment section and share in the nostalgia alongside us with thoughts and tales of your own!
