Blue Protocol is a new online RPG from Bandai Namco that’s appears to sitting somewhere between Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy XIV on the scale. There isn’t all that much info available about the game, but we can at least say that it looks absolutely gorgeous. Of course, there are plenty of good-looking game out there, so graphics alone aren’t going to cut it without knowing more about the gameplay. That is, they weren’t if not for Blue Protocol’s newly-revealed character creator. It’s quite impressive to say the least.

Many, many, MANY games allow their players to make their own characters, but few allow the degree of customization shown here. It also appears to get around the problem of creator disconnect; that is, having what looks like a satisfactory character in the creator, only to discover that it looks hideous in the actual game.

I don’t think I’ve seen a creation system that turns out character that look more or less natural to the game either, as if they were designed. This isn’t ground-breaking or anything to be sure, but still worth looking at nonetheless. Check it out if you’ve got a couple of minutes.
