The Luigi’s Mansion remake for the Nintendo 3DS has been out for a couple weeks now and it’s actually pretty good. Aside from the somewhat wonky controls required by the 3DS, the game plays well and even adds some extra challenge for players who’ve already mastered the Gamecube original. Upon completing the game, players can run through it again in “Hidden Mansion” mode, which is a remixed version of the Gamecube’s “Hidden Mansion.” Ghost placement and difficulty is altered, a new level of portrait is available to acquire, and there’s even a new top-tier mansion to strive for. All that aside, the biggest change to the game has to be its optional co-op featuring Luigi’s gooey clone from the future: “Gooigi.”
“Gooigi” lets one other player come into the game and help sweep up both ghosts and gold as the game progresses. It also looks like the game ramps up the number of ghosts available to catch so that both players have enough to do. It’s an odd addition to be sure, but not a bad one if one wants an experience that’s completely different from the original. Check it out if you’re a fan of the original and wanna try something a little bit different. 🙂
Have you tried the remake yet? What do you think of it?
