In an interview with Polyphony Digital’s Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the Gran Turismo series, GT Planet learned that there’s a chance that the series could follow the example of the likes of God of War and Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man and eventually come to the PC.
It seems that Mr. Yamauchi is agreeable to the idea, but has some concerns about doing so. According to the interview, a prime reason for Gran Turismo being a PlayStation exclusive (besides the studio being a Sony first-party developer) is that the games are very finely tuned productions. So, it would likely be very difficult to develop for more than one platform AND maintain the kind of performance fans have enjoyed with the series thus far.
I’d say that there are already plenty of studios that make multiplatform work, but then I haven’t played Gran Turismo. So for all I know the studio really does need to focus solely on one platform in order to get everything they can out of it. Still, making it a PC title would certainly be nice for racing fans, wouldn’t it?
What do you think? Do you think they could bring Gran Turismo to the PC without losing too much, or do you think it’s better-off remaining a PlayStation exclusive?
