As is typical of the New Year’s season, there’s really not all that much to talk about in terms of gaming news. I mean sure, Square Enix really stepped in it with that NFT nonsense, but I don’t really want to talk about NFts at them moment (who does? they’re so stupid!) So, how about we take a look at the year’s most played games for the Switch. The numbers for Europe were recently released, and aside from one annoying exception, it’s an interesting list.
According to NintendoEverything, Fortnite was Europe’s most played Switch game. While I find that somewhat depressing, I have to admit that the cartoony battle royale’s staying power is quite impressive. Beyond that though, the #2 spot was taken by Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the rest of the top 5 were rounded out by Minecraft (#3), Pokemon Sword (#4) and Pokemon Shield (#5).
Most of Nintendo’s top games were on the list too, including the Super Mario 3D World port, which is a little surprising considering that Bowser’s Fury was the only new content there. Still, it was good to see that it’s gotten some decent playtime.
I’m not sure what my own most played Switch game is, but if I had to guess it’s probably Mario Party Superstars. I can’t get enough of that one!
What’s your most played Switch game? Got any that you’re looking forward to this year?
