It’s been several years now since we’ve seen anything of note from the the Lord of the Rings franchise, and I honestly was okay with that. I don’t mean to say that I disliked seeing new Lord of the Rings/Hobbit-themed movies and games over the years. I enjoyed the Hobbit movies for what they were and the first Shadow of Morder game was pretty good. It’s just that I didn’t really need to see more and felt that there weren’t any more stories that needed telling. Well, it looks like there’s at least one more story to tell here, and it’s Gollum’s.

I thought Gollum’s story had already been pretty well fleshed out through all the books movies and games, but then those all take place during the years surrounding the War of the Ring; Gollum supposedly lived with One Ring in his possession for several centuries, so I suppose there’s room to invent some more stories for him. As for the kind of game this would be, my guess is that it’ll be stealth-focused since Gollum was never described as being powerful. Whatever the case, I hope it turns out good.
