Mediatonic has released a new developer diary for their upcoming party title: Fall Guys. If you haven’t heard of the game before, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is a party game made in the mold of a game show like Wipeout or Takeshi’s Castle (the better showout of the two). Players take control one out of one hundred very inept-looking, unfortunately-proportioned dudes trying to reach the end of a grueling obstacle course. They are absolutely not up for this kind of task, but it turns out that that’s kind of the point.
The first half of this video goes into great detail about why the fall guys look the way they do. The short version is that it looks hilarious and makes for more engaging gameplay. The rest of the video describes just how much Mediatonic has done to bring out the comedic potential of these already funny-looking characters. Basically, players can dress their fall guy in all manner of ridiculous outfits and crazy patterns. There’s a lot of freedom here, and that’s a really good thing when one has to try and stand out among a crowd of a hundred other dudes.
Think you’ll check out Fall Guys? What kind of guy do you want to make?
