After the massive success that was last year’s Crash Bandicoot N’ Sane Trilogy, it was likely only a matter of time before the jeans-wearing marsupial’s main rival got the remaster treatment. As reported by Kotaku, Activision has a remake collection in the works for the original trilogy of Spyro games. Developed by Vicarious Visions, the studio that handled the previously mentioned N’ Sane Trilogy, the remastered Spyro trilogy will likely offer the same things as the Crash Bandicoot remake: new assets, new lighting, animations and cinematics. For the first Spyro game, Spyro the Dragon, there will also likely be some tweaks to its save system. It is probably the only one of the original three games that will need adjustment to its save system, as it’s the only one that employed save points instead of a save anywhere feature. There is also the possibility of reintroducing content that was cut from the original PS1 versions of the games.
The official announcement is anticipated to drop sometime next month, with the game seeing release sometime in Q3 of 2018. Like the N’ Sane Trilogy, it will also be a one-year timed exclusive for the PS4 and PS4 Pro systems.
