Nintendo’s latest Nintendo Direct broadcast focused almost exclusively on the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and it had plenty of exciting things to say. To kick things off, Xenoblade fans will be excited to hear that the game will be releasing on December 1st. That’s less than a month from now! The new game will host a new story, world and cast of characters. All of this was shown in the game’s newest trailer, which puts the spotlight on two characters in particular.

Rex appears to be one of those “hero chosen by fate” types, a Driver chosen by Pyra a Blade who seems to have some unique power hidden away. According to the game’s official site, Blades are living weapons and Drivers are individuals capable of wielding their power. It’s not a new idea, but it looks like Xenoblade is going to put it’s own unique twist on it.
Nintendo will be doing a cross-promotion for the game with the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild starting on November 9th. Players on both the Switch and the Wii U will get a free DLC update that will add a questline and Rex’s costume for Link to wear. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will also be getting a fair amount of DLC after launch. The DLC expansion pass can be pre-purchased right now and will include everything from items to a side-story set in the world of Elysium. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will also have a special edition release which will include a 220-page artbook, a soundtrack CD, and a steelbook case. The Special Edition will sell for $99.99.
This sounds like a great game for both Xenoblade fans and JRPG enthusiasts in general. Are you going to check this one out?
