Star Citizen Makes an Appearance at Gamescom

Oh man, Star Citizen. Where to even begin with this game? It’s one of the most ambitious projects out there. It’s on track to either be Kickstarter’s biggest success or its greatest flop. It’s also been the source for many internet jokes and controversies. Star Citizen is many things, can be many things, and is even aiming to be many different things. It’s already something difficult to get one’s head around, but thankfully we’re in luck. Its developers did a lengthy presentation at this year’s Gamescom! So if you’re at all interested in learning what Star Citizen is all about then strap yourself in because they cover just about everything!

I honestly didn’t know much about Star Citizen until recently, but I’ve long admired the ambition driving its development. I honestly can’t think of another project that’s attempted anything close to what Star Citizen is aiming to be. Basically, it’s combining all the best parts of games like EVE Online and Elite: Dangerous, and then adding in and FPS (among other things) on top of that. If it succeeds, I don’t know how any fan of space sci-fi will be able to stay away.

What do you think of Star Citizen? Will you be jumping in once it’s released?

I bought in three years ago but I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t get excited about it again until it is actually out and finished.

That’s fair. I mean the game has already been delayed twice. Still, it’ll definitely be something special if they do eventually manage a full release.

I bought in to it at the beginning of the year. Still so much needs to be done, but if they pull it off it will be amazing.
