It turns out that even though Mighty No. 9 may be dead in the water, it’s characters can still find homes in other, better games. That’s right, “Beck” and “Call” from Mighty No. 9 will still be living on thanks to a new game titles Mighty Gunvolt Burst.

Based on its most recently released trailer, Mighty Gunvolt Burst appears to be a game aiming to return to something reminiscent of the old Mega Man games. Players will be navigating their way through tricky platforming sections and defeating enemies as they strive to gather all its collectibles, master the game’s new “Burst Combo System” and gain new powers by way of defeating robot masters. At first glance, Mighty Gunvolt Burst appears to be a game chock-full of classic action-platforming fun. Hopefully this will be exactly what it delivers too since the Switch is currently in dire need of new games.
Mighty Gunvolt Burst isn’t exactly a brand-new ip though. It’s actually a spin-off of the popular Azure Striker Gunvolt series on the 3DS. Switch owners who pick up Mighty Gunvolt Burst and like it won’t have to wait long to enjoy its predecessors either, as both games will be coming to the Switch in late August. Let’s just hope that none of these games feature the narrator from this trailer. (Seriously, what’s up with that guy?)
Will you be checking these games out? If you’ve played the Azure Striker Gunvolt games, what did you think of them?
