Top Anticipated Games: #gamersonwatch

With E3 at a close, I must make a confession.  While I have certainly heard of this important gaming event, I admit that I don’t typically pay it much heed, and any news I do hear comes from random people or articles on the Internet.  Nevertheless, I have a short list for you all in celebration of E3 and our June community post, and I’m keeping it simple.  My favorite gaming news is whatever involves the release of interesting games, so I shall list (and briefly describe) the five games I look forward to most (whether they were mentioned at E3 or not).  In no particular order.

Kingdom Hearts 3: I know I am not the only person absolutely thrilled about this game.  For so many years, we have gotten nothing but countless handhelds for the KH series, on so many devices, it was nearly impossible to keep up with.  And now, at last, we have the next console entry of the series to look forward to, with brand new stunning graphics and the final chapter to an already epic story.  I can’t wait.  I really can’t.  But, I have to.  At least they released a pretty cool trailer for the game at this year’s E3 to tide me over until…well, I don’t know when.  They have yet to announce a release date….

Final Fantasy VII (remake): It’s finally happening.  For years, I had heard people wishing with all their might (maybe not, but it sounds better that way) for a remake of Final Fantasy VII to be released.  And yet, as awesome as that would be, I seriously doubted such a thing would ever happen.  But guess what, it’s happening.  The game is now in development, and it looks beautiful.  Again, no release date.

Ratchet and Clank (remake): They are also making not only a Ratchet and Clank movie (which was supposed to be out by now, but has been delayed until 2016), but they are also remaking the original Ratchet and Clank with greatly improved graphics and some other changes, as well.  Yay!  Since Insomniac seems capable of releasing games far quicker than other developers (well, by other developers, I really just mean Square Enix), this game is scheduled for release in 2016.

Hunger: I heard about this game from Hatm0nster, and it really looks like something worth watching out for.  The game is being developed by a small Swedish company called Tarsier Studios, but I have yet to find any release date.  It looks pretty spooky (but not in the gory kind of way I’m not terribly fond of), complete with some pretty atmospheric looking locations.  It’s definitely a game I plan to try, and yet another reason I need a PS4.

The Legend of Zelda: And of course, I am definitely looking forward to the newest entry to The Legend of Zelda series, which is supposed to be released in 2016.  The game looks beautiful from what I’ve seen, and it will be a welcome addition to my Wii U.  It doesn’t have many good games yet.

The Duck, Who is Also Scheduled for an HD Remake

Incredibly psyched for R&C, FFVII: Remake, and KH3. R&C because it’s a reboot of the original and will hopefully be the return-to-form I’ve been waiting years for Insomniac to do.
FFVII because well, it’s a remake of my favorite Final Fantasy (out of the 2 numbered entries I’ve played) what’s not to like there? I really curious as to how much of the original will make it in, and how much will be dropped. Also, they’d better not listen to those who want to save Aeris in this new version. Her death was sad and tragic, but it drives the story from that point onward. It’s kinda important.
KH3 because I haven’t played any of the mobile games after Chain Of Memories. It’ll be nice to experience the story firsthand again instead of reading about it in the wiki.

Also, regarding Hunger. It’s not necessarily going to be a PS4 game. They haven’t confirmed any platforms just yet.

Zelda…Zelda is exciting just because it’s Zelda, but I’m wondering just how open it’s open world is going to be. It would be fun to explore an open zelda world, though would not be as much fun to have to do the standard open world fetch quests and “gather x amount of y” quests. you know?

I do hope Hunger will be on a console I own or plan to own. It looks pretty neat. And I agree. Hopefully they won’t have Aerith survive. Sometimes it’s not wise to listen to what the fans want. And yes, I hope Zelda is open world, but not in the way where they make you do lots of silly stuff like in Skyward Sword. I thought I heard they want to do less with dungeons or something, but that would be weird. The best part of Zelda games are the dungeons, so hopefully they won’t change the formula around too much. Change is not always good.

You’re not really missing out on anything with the KH handheld games. I wasn’t a big fan of those. I can’t wait to finally get another console game.

Main games I have my eyes are kh3, ff7, and street fighter 5. Until then, I guess I’ll keep playing street fighter 4 like I have been for the past 6 years. 😦

I’m glad there’s finally some new games to look forward to. I’ve been spending a lot of time lately catching up on retro games I had missed because there was nothing new I wanted to play. And I have yet to get bored of playing Donkey Kong Country, heh heh.
