The leaks and rumors about the Oblivion remaster have really picked up now that the game has all but been confirmed thanks to images mined from Bethesda’s own website. Why it is that the publisher has come out and delivered an official statement is anyone’s guess, but it seems we can expect to see the game soon. And, if the rumors hold true, it will include all of the original Oblivion’s DLC.
As reported by TwistedVoxel, one of the hosts, one “Lord Cognito,” of a podcast called “Defining Duke” claimed to have been told by a credible source that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will include all DLC from the original, meaning everything from Horse Armor to the Shivering Isles. If true, it’d definitely be a big win for Elder Scrolls fans.
In past years, I wouldn’t have considered this news since it would pretty much be a given. Until recently, including all previously released DLC was standard practice for GOTY editions and remasters, but these days it’s looking like publishers intend to change that. Nintendo is already planning to sell the Switch 2 version of Breath of the Wild without the DLC included, so I wouldn’t put it past the likes of Zenimax, EA, Take Two and so on to try getting away with the same.
On a personal note, I wonder how many people are really excited for an Oblivion remaster. While it’s nice to see an old game with a fresh coat of paint, it’s still that same old game at heart, and with how similarly all of Bethesda’s games play, I kind of question the need for it. Who knows though, maybe it’ll be the kind of massive hit that Bethesda desperately needs right now.
What do you think? Are you psyched for this remaster? Would you buy it even if it didn’t include the DLC?

Thanks to Game Pass, I’ll admit that I’m looking forward to playing Oblivion Remastered, with DLC or not. That’s only because I never played the original…well, never played it any real degree, anyway.

I’ve since heard that they’ve actually made small improvements to gameplay and UI, so there actually is something new on offer here, at least in terms of gameplay
