Insider Claims Resident Evil 9 Will Have Impact Similar to RE7

It’s been over a year since Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 9 was in development, but so far the publisher hasn’t said anything else about the game. With AAA games being the overly massive projects they are these days, I’m not really surprised, but it seems that there is a reason for Capcoms silence.

As reported by Tech4Gamers, a person with the X handle “AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem” has come forward with some new information. This individual claims to be an insider and says that the reason Capcom is taking so long to give details is that Resident Evil 9 is being primed to shake up the series in the same way that Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7 did. They also claim that the same director responsible for Resident Evil 7 is heading up the new game.

I’ve never really been one to put much stock in so-called insiders and leakers, and especially not in the modern age where tons of people are constantly claiming to be in the know in order to grab attention. The only reason I’m talking about this is that I find the claim interesting. I mean, I don’t really think that Resident Evil is really in need of a major reinvention. Do you?

RE7 was fantastic and RE8 was pretty fun too, and, sure, they need to find a new protagonist and start a new story since Ethan Winters’ tale is completely wrapped up. Still, why go back to the drawing board now? If you didn’t like how RE8 landed, then just focus more on what made RE7 fun, you know? At any rate, I kinda hope Capcom isn’t actually trying for a complete shakeup like this guy claims, but I would like to think that the guy who brought us RE7 is back in charge.

What’s your take on this? Would you like to see the series go in a new direction? What kinds of changes would you like to see?
