Playing All the Fake Phone Games

At long last I’m back! It’s been a hectic couple of weeks with my family visiting, but I did find moments here and there to game. There weren’t many, which is why I’ve been trying something a little different lately: namely all of those fake phone games we all have to constantly sit through. And you know what? They’re actually not that bad.

Okay, so I haven’t been playing the actual games from the ads. That’s actually impossible since the games shown are usually not even real; they’re just meant to get you started on some Clash of Clans-esque, microtransaction-infested sort of game. Rather, I’ve been playing the game shown above, a compilation of what’s basically real versions of all those fake phone games. Yep, some madman out there actually did it!

The collection was $9.99 on the PS Store, and so far I’d say it’s worth it. Each of the games plays exactly as you’d imagine: little brain-teasing puzzles that take all of 30 seconds to solve, if that. And for me, that’s fine. Each mini-game available in the collection has at least 50 levels, so you at least have plenty of them to solve if you like them enough, and they do have a sort of addicting quality to them too.

There are leaderboards, nameplates, titles and a little gacha machine to dole them out, but otherwise this is just an excuse to satisfy your curiosity and have some pieces of bite-size fun without potentially compromising your phone with what’s almost certainly malware disguised as a game (and not even the game you wanted to play).

Of everything available in the collection, my favorites have been the one where you have to pull out pins in the right order, the one where you have to draw a shape to protect a cat, and the shooting angle one. They’re simple, but sometimes have little unexpected challenges and easily flow together. Overall, though, it’s a good buy, especially if you’ve ever caught yourself thinking about actually trying the games from the ads.

Have you ever wanted to try those goofy ad games? Which one was the most interesteing to you?
