Silent Hill 2 Remake is Getting Some Backlash

A new trailer came out for Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 Remake, and it’s gotten a few people upset. It’s not so much that the gameplay looks bad or anything, it seems. But rather, it’s that a couple of the game’s major characters look more than a little…off in this upcoming version.

Twisted Voxel reports that much of the backlash centers mostly around Angela, and how her new rendition makes her look much older than she’s supposed to be. Apparently, this character is supposed to be 19 years old when the game takes place, and, yeah, this version doesn’t look 19. As someone who never really played the original, I would have guessed that she was in her 30s based on what I’m seeing in this trailer. It’s a bit odd.

Actually, I was thinking that James Sunderland, while not looking bad, kind of has this “we’ve got James Sunderland at home” kind of look to him. To me, it kind of looks like all of these character models aren’t quite finished yet (rather then them being purposefully bad, as some are positing). If that’s the case, then that’s not exactly good since the game is due out in October. If your game is only a few months away from launch, shouldn’t your character models already be locked down?

Anyway, the gameplay still looks decent, so the game should be fine so long as no liberties were taken with the story. I don’t think I’ll be buying at launch regardless, but we’ll see, I suppose.

How do you feel about this? Dothe character look strange to you, or is this another case of people making something out of nothing?
