I joined with many a raised eyebrow over Rockstar’s recent announcement concerning Red Dead Redemption. Rumors swirled over hopes that they’d be releasing a current-gen version of the game; but, in fact, the world will be seeing only ports of the game to the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. I’m not one to grumble at any game being made more widely available, but the choice here is a little baffling and certainly underwhelming. It got me thinking, however, about games that I sure wouldn’t mind having on the Nintendo Switch, specifically. I use the Switch exclusively as a handheld (I just enjoy its portability too much to ever want to play it docked), and there are lots of console- and PC-only games currently that I’d love to have on the go. Of course, there are reasons large and small as why to some games will never, ever see the light of day on the Switch, but I can still dream with these top picks!
5) The Sims 4
Or, any Sims game, really. I really enjoyed my first outing with The Sims 4, and while versions of it can be played on phones and such, it’d be pretty great to live out the lives of Sim after Sim on the Switch. Just think of all the adorable little houses one could make!
4) Valheim
Would I enjoy spending my train commute chipping away at the life of a Viking, building settlements, hunting boars, and shooting dinky arrows at trolls. Yes, I would! If its controller interface could be configured properly (it is a bit tricky to manage), Valheim could make for a great portable experience.
3) Fallout and Fallout 2
Okay, so call this list a “Top 6” instead, but I have this reoccurring dream that I will someday, somehow play the first two Fallout games. I know that I can play them right this very minute through PC Game Pass, but still…I would love to have them always in tow on my Switch.
2) Dragon Age: Origins
I get why the Switch isn’t a great choice for the Dragon Age series, but of the titles, Origins would be fun to play whenever, wherever. Not being tethered to a console would probably also give me the opportunity to finally play through all the origin choices I’ve not yet completed!
1) Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
GTA: Chinatown Wars needs to be ported to the Switch. Full stop. It made its way to ye olde PSP, and I can play it on my phone, so what’s the deal, Nintendo?? Whatever is going on behind the scenes that’s keeping this game from Switch users needs to be dealt with, because its absence from the console’s library is simply a crying shame.
What games would you like to see someday on the Nintendo Switch?

Yes to all this! And please add an Amiibo line for each. Make it so, Nintendo.

Yes! Maybe if we say it loud enough, someone at Bethesda will hear. 😆

Oh wow, a new Fallout game in the old Fallout style would be pretty amazing. Wonder if anyone at Bethesda has been thinking about that among all this Starfield business?

Other games I’d like to see ported to the Switch would be Age of Empires I and II (and the expansions), the classic Leisure Suit Larry and King’s Quest games, Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny (which are not on any of the 8th or 9th gen consoles), and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. There are a whole lot more, but I would be here forever. Lol.

Nice picks! There really are too many games that the Switch should have but doesn’t. The list of possibilities is almost endless!
