Square Enix just put out a new short trailer for Final Fantasy XVI today showing off some of the Eikon battles players will get to take on. I guess it’s technically called a “Summon Beast” battle at the moment, but it still looks pretty cool. Check it out!
In this clip we can see some of what Ifrit and Phoenix bring to their encounters, including projectiles, blocks, dodges, parries and clashes. In other words, it’s looking like at least some summons won’t just be the glorified cutscenes that they’ve been in the past. We’re actually going to get to play as these entities, and we’re going to get to use them as fully-playable characters!
It’s really incredible to see the work that the team behind this game is putting in, like I’m looking at this and hoping that these guys are eating right and getting proper rest! (For real though, as much as I love amazing games, I don’t want them at the cost of the team’s well-being.) *Ahem* anyway, I don’t know about you, but I’m looking at this and I feel like I’m finally seeing the first “next-gen” game in terms actual gameplay and scope. Like, wow this looks incredible!
That’s just me though. What do you think when you see the trailers for Final Fantasy XVI? How do you feel about this current generation of gaming so far?
