Modern Warfare 2 Follows Missing Feature Trend

Welp, it looks like missing features at launch is just going to be a thing now. Like Halo Infinite and Battlefield 2042 before it, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (the second one), is missing a lot of legacy multiplayer features. What the heck.

Video from YouTube channel: Call of Duty

According to MP1st, the latest Call of Duty is missing more than a few features that were, until now apparently, considered standard in the multiplayer space. The list is actually shockingly extensive, so much so that even a non-Call of Duty player can’t help but wonder what on earth happened. The full list includes:

  • Hardcore Mode
  • Split Screen Mode
  • Challenges
  • Barracks
  • Import settings (there but doesn’t work)
  • Camo Unlock Notifications
  • Ability to turn off crossplay on Xbox and PC
  • XP Token Countdown
  • Customizable Reticles
  • Saving Custom Blueprints
  • Weapon Inspection in the Gunsmith
  • Medals
  • Stats
  • Leaderboards

No reason has yet been given for the absence of these features, and that’s really not good at all considering that things like stats and leaderboards are pretty major omissions. Surely they knew fans were going to notice right away, yet they don’t at least have an explanation prepared? Amazing. Anyway, hopefully fans can still enjoy their $70 “premium” AAA FPS experience regardless. Wow.

What’s your take on this? Think you’ll still jump into this even though Infinity Ward cannot seem to be bothered to put in something as basic as a leaderboard?
