Halo Infinite Multiplayer Looks…Good!

Okay, so this is actually a little late, but I figured now would be a good time to talk about it since people have been having fun with the beta recently. Unfortunately, I’m still lacking any of the new consoles, so I can only look on in envy. Still, I must say that Halo is making just as strong an argument as ever for the Xbox brand.

After Halo 5 Call of Duty-fied Halo, I honestly was ready to write-off any future installments in the series. I figured that it was just another series that had left me behind in its rush to modernize, so there wasn’t much point in following it anymore. Now though? Now I’m not so sure.

It looks like they’ve retained the speed of Halo 5, but I’m seeing a lot more classic Halo here. I’m seeing limited abilities. I’m not seeing armor abilities (thank goodness), and I’m seeing power weapons scattered across the map instead of just being available. The lack of a shoulder-charge and ground pound is encouraging too. As an older gamer, I just couldn’t get used to all the one-shot-kill options available in Halo 5.

Of course, it’s hard to miss stuff like the new grapple and that parry/reflect ability, but those both seem to require good timing to pull-off properly. They aren’t guaranteed kills. Also, based on the recent gameplay I’ve seen, it looks like neither is available as an inherent ability, so we won’t have to run around worried that literally everyone will be able to reflect stuff back at you or grapple-jack your vehicles. It looks very much like the updated return-to-form many of us have been waiting for, and it has me leaning towards Xbox again. Guess we’ll see what happens, eh?

How do you feel about Halo Infinite? Are you liking what you’re seeing or do you have concerns?
