S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl ( and Call of Pripyat) have been gaining ground for years as PC cult-classics. The following was enough to inspire the developer, GSC Game World to announce a sequel last year. Since then, new about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been scarce, but the developer finally dropped a bunch of new information a couple of days ago.
A brief trailer (shown above) was released not too long ago which is supposed to show the game world through the eyes of “Skif,” the “s.t.a.l.k.e.r.” serving as the player character this time around. If the actual game truly does end up looking anything close to this, then it’ll certainly be a visual marvel at the very least.
The blog update on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 website mostly just served as a reminder for the game’s setting: a extremely dangerous, radioactive area around the abandoned city of Pripyat known as “The Zone.” It is in this place that “s.t.a.l.k.e.r.s” do their work, searching for “artifacts” (objects strangely affected by “the Zone’s” energies). However, they also gave a brief update on development. Apparently development for all target platforms (Xbox One and Series X/S) is going smoothly, and the game will be available on Game Pass on Day 1. There’s no release date yet, but at least things are progressing, right?
