When Yooka-Laylee was first announced on KickStarter all those years ago (like 2015 or something, I think), I was more than a little excited. I was all jazzed and ready for a proper successor to Banjo-Kazooie, and it was just a matter of waiting for the release date. I was also, like many others, quite disappointed with how Yooka-Laylee actually turned out (just okay). Even so, I’ve been kinda hopeful that the minds that gave us Banjo might be able to salvage something from all this, and it looks like they just might with Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair.
The game now has a release date for October 8, and represents a chance at redemption for the chameleon-bat duo. The gameplay looks great; I’m getting strong Donkey Kong Country vibes just by looking at it, and the visuals ain’t half bad either. Here’s hoping they’re able to pull it off this time; it would be a terrible shame if this followed it’s predecessor out into the vast ocean of games that failed to live up to their full potential.
What do you think of Yooka-Laylee? Are you interested in this new spin-off at all?

I wasn’t a big fan of the original Yooka-Laylee, but as more of a DKC fan than a Banjo fan, the Impossible Lair looks much more up my alley. Hoping it’s good. It certainly looks promising!
