Just Cause 4 Leans into it’s Inherent Silliness With Destruction DLC

Ever since Just Cause 2, the series has been more about seeing how many ridiculous things one can pull off with Rico Rodriguez’s insane arsenal than anything else. There’s always a story involving liberating this state or that country from a cartoonish dicator, but they always take a backseat to goofy grapple tricks and chain explosions. Until now, those crazy stunts have been limited to taking out enemy strongholds and other, more traditional, mission types. Not anymore though.

With this Dare Deveils of Destruction add-on, Just Cause 4 finally appears to be embracing its inner wackiness. It’s new game modes all revolve around driving and piloting a variety of weaponized cars. “Survival” pits players against deadly obstacle courses; “Run” is all about pulling-off incredible stunts and destroying the competition in order to secure first place, and “Rampage” is all about survival of the fittest in a full-on arena setting. Sounds like a blast, doesn’t it?

Just Cause 4 has been received with much more negativity than Just Cause 2 or 3. The chief complaint appears to be that it’s just more of the same. With this and the other two DLCs coming later this year though, perhaps that won’t be as much of a problem anymore. Keep an eye out for the eventual GOTY edition and get it all together in a nice and cheaper package. Otherwise, this DLC will launch on April 23.

What do you think of this? Would you say it’s what Just Cause 4 needs?
