Listmas 2016: Most Anticipated Games

Hello and a happy new year to you all! This is it. The not-so-great mixed-bag that was 2016 has finally passed and the fresh start that is 2017 has finally arrived! There’s much that we don’t know about what this new year has in store for us, but what we do know is that it’s got some exciting games for us! I’ve got more than a few that I can’t wait to play, but the following are those that I can hardly contain my excitement for. Check ’em out!

Persona 5 – April 4, 2017

I’ve never played a Persona game before, but I have been watching the series for quite a while now. It has a certain style and flow to the gameplay that stands out from the kinds of games I’m used to. I don’t really know why I haven’t just jumped in and tried playing one already, but I do know that I can’t wait to try  this one. The art style is distinct and exciting. The combat looks fresh, unusual, and frenetic. The characters look like they’ll be a fun bunch to get to know. Everything I could want appears to be here, so I’ll finally be diving in come April!

Yooka-Laylee – April 11, 2017

I’ve been eagerly anticipating this game ever since I backed the Kickstarter in early 2015, but really I’ve been waiting for a game like this ever since the classic 3D platformer genre went dormant. Yooka-Laylee promises a return to the N64-era collect-em-up platformer, and it’s being developed by the masterminds behind the greatest games in that genre! How could anyone who grew up with those games not be excited? I’ve already gotten a taste for how Yooka and Laylee will control in the game that Playtonic is creating, but I really can’t wait to sink my teeth into the real thing! Collecting fun here I come!

Prey – 2017

To be honest, I wasn’t particularly interested in the new Prey until very recently. I thought that it was going to be an actual sequel to the game from 2006, a game that I also didn’t care all that much about. However, that all changed once I watched the trailers. This one above and a more recent gameplay trailer in particular. What I’m seeing here isn’t a follow-up to a game I really couldn’t care less about, but rather something new that appears to be following the style of System Shock and BioShock! It even looks like there’s a little bit of Dead Space mixed in! As a fan  of all these games, I can’t help but keep a close eye on this one. (Hope it’s good!)

Well those are the games I’m most looking forward to, what are yours? Are they all big titles are are there some indie games on your list too?

And thus we conclude Listmas 2016! Thanks for celebrating with us, and be on the look out next week for Relistmas: the grand day where we’ll link to all the other listmas posts we could find! So, thanks again and we hope you have a bright new year!

Re Persona , I think you should play Persona 3 FES first…. it was Game of the year in 2005… one of my most favorite of all time.

There are 2, Persona 3 and Persona3 FES. I recommend Persona3FES, but of course you need a PS2 to play that. Persona 3 FES is awesome.

What’s the difference between the two?

The original is Persona 3…. P3 FES ( FES means Festival ) is an additional game, a sequel after the events that happened to the characters. It’s an additional 40 hour game bonus. At same price as P3, better get the P3FES. It was 2005’s Game of the Year… and it truly deserved the accolades.
