Just last week, we finally got the first trailer for the second Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, and I must say, it looks amazing! We had already seen photos online of the exterior of the FNAF 2 pizzeria and some sort of Freddy’s themed carnival event, not to mention teaser images of the new batch of animatronics (during FNAF’s 10-year anniversary). And now, we’ve gotten a much better look at the final product, with footage of the Toy Animatronics, including Mangle and Balloon Boy! And just like the first movie, the animatronics look amazing and extremely accurate to their game counterparts!
The trailer opens with the tune from the Puppet’s music box and a cheery voice that sounds like William Afton saying, “Are you ready to start the show?” before counting down from 5, alongside the excited voices of children, leading me to wonder if we’ll be seeing some flashbacks to when Afton worked at Freddy’s before (or during) the time of the murders. There’s also a note that Abby has left for Mike that says, “Gone to fix my friends”.
Brief Speculation: Considering Abby’s note that she’s going to fix her friends, I wonder if she’s referring to the Withered Animatronics, which are decrepit versions of the FNAF 1 animatronics that she bonded with in the first movie. After all, in the trailer, she appears to be riding her bike to the FNAF 2 pizzeria. But how does Abby know her friends need “fixing”? Well, we have also seen photos of some sort of Freddy’s themed communicator that we assume Abby is using to talk to someone, with the message “You there?” Even so, I can’t help but feel that something malicious is luring Abby to the FNAF 2 pizzeria under the guise of being friends in need…

The most exciting part of the trailer, though, are the Toy Animatronics, which, according to Vanessa (who has clearly recovered just fine from her injury) are “everywhere”. She really means it, too, as we then see Toy Chica attack a guy (possibly a teacher or principal at Abby’s school?) inside what looks like the hallway of a school, and we also see Mangle breaking through a window of a house (presumably Mike’s or Vanessa’s, but unless Mike and Abby moved, it doesn’t look like their house), Freddy opening a garage door, and Bonnie threatening a pair of people that we don’t yet know.
There is also a split second where we see a guy standing at the end of a long hallway, possibly Afton (we know they filmed at least one scene in what appears to be the Afton family residence), and we also see someone getting pulled up through the ceiling by what I can only assume is Mangle again. Considering the place looks a little decrepit, it makes me wonder if it’s an urban explorer, perhaps, checking out an abandoned Freddy’s location? The trailer then ends with (presumably) Afton saying, “Showtime!” and a great look at Toy Freddy at the carnival, along with the Toreador March that Freddy plays in the first game when the power runs out. (Honestly, I don’t remember hearing that song in the first movie, strangely enough, so it was good to hear it here.)

This trailer really gave me high hopes that the second movie is going to be way better than the first! While I enjoyed the first movie well enough, it wasn’t scary in the slightest, but from what little I’ve seen from this new trailer, the second movie already looks way more exciting and action-packed. I have no idea what the Toy Animatronics are doing wandering about far from their pizzeria, but the change of scenery is refreshing, as we didn’t need another movie set largely within a pizzeria, even if I do hope we get a decent amount of time within the FNAF 2 Freddy’s. The only animatronics missing from the trailer are the Withered Animatronics and the Puppet, though I’m actually rather happy we haven’t seen them yet because I want some things to be left a surprise for when the movie is released in theaters on December 5.
