With the arrival of the new comes the impending release of the latest entry in the Legend of Heroes series. Despite being the kind of JRPG that caters heavily to true diehards, it’s still going quite strong, to the point that I can’t even keep track of the main entries anymore. The latest game is Trails Through Daybreak II, and fans now have their choice of two demos through which to check it out.
Fans have plenty of time to check out both demos before the full game releases on February 14th, which is handy because the save data from one of the two demos can be transferred over to the full game. The two demos are like this:
Story Demo: This will take players through Trails Through Daybreak’s opening hours. I assume that most of the major characters will be introduced and the basics of battle explained. However far one gets in this demo can be transferred over into the full game.
Battle Demo: Players can pick one of two parties and fight someone by the name of “Marchen Garten” in this demo. I’m guessing it’s meant to give players a sense of what boss fights are like.
The Legend of Heroes series is most well known for its many, many characters, I think. Having attempted to play a few of them over the years, I can say that the battle systems are usually pretty competent, but not really the sort that’s crazy fun to engage with over the long haul. I also think that the stories tend to meander too much. But, that’s just me. What do you think of them?
Are you going to check these demos out? How do you like this series overall?
