Alien Isolation 2 Confirmed in Development!

After 10 years of thinking that Creative Assembly’s brilliant survival-horror, Alien: Isolation, was doomed to forever be a one-off, fans got an awesome surprise earlier this week: an official announcement from the developers themselves that a sequel is in the works.

Creative director Al Hope posted a statement on X confirming the news:

“Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.”

While I’m not the sort of person with nerves strong enough to have made it through the original Alien: Isolation, I’m very psyched to hear that Creative Assembly is revisiting it. The team behind the original put so much effort and creative flair into it that I’m more than just a little excited to see what they do this time. Heck, maybe now would be a great time to try to work up the courage to play through the original.

What I’m most interested in hearing about in regard to the sequel is how they’re going to handle the xenomorph. The AI in the first Alien: Isolation was (and still is) revolutionary due to how the creature sensed where the player was. It also worked in no small part to the fact that there was only one xenomorph. So, I’m wondering if they’re going to stick with that or find a way to make multiple aliens work, you know? Regardless, this is exciting news, yeah?

What do you think of this? Are you an Alien: Isolation fan or are you not all that into it?
