During last month’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo surprised everyone by not only revealing a new top-town Zelda adventure, but one in which Zelda herself will be stepping into the main character role. This is the first time this has happened within in a Nintendo-developed Legend of Zelda game, and the company made sure to have Zelda do her own thing rather than just make her discount Link. Well, it looks like fans will be getting fully-featured versions of both characters in the upcoming game.
Twisted Voxel has pointed out some curious wording from the description found on the official ESRB listing for the game, which not only outlines Zelda’s adventure and playstyle, but also that of Link. Apparently, he’ll be swinging his sword and shooting arrows like always in The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom, so no surprises there, I guess.
I kind of wonder to what extent Link will be playable though. Considering the situation we saw him in at the end of the initial trailer, it’s likely that he won’t enter the main game proper until later on in the adventure. More than that, I wonder how much one would want to play as Link when Zelda can just summon mobs to do her fighting for her, not to mention all the things she can do to bend the world to her whim.
If anything, I’d expect Link to be a post-game unlock, where players are given the option to play as him for new game plus and have to complete the game using his much more limited options. That’d be pretty interesting, don’t you think?
How do you think Link is involved in The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom? Do you think it’s a good idea to add him back in?
