Sometimes you gotta hand it to Valve. While they hardly make games anymore, they have been steadfast in keeping their existing titles in good working order. Case in point: Team Fortress 2. The game released all the way back in 2007, but Valve is still dutifully maintaining it.
Valve actually released a surprise update for Team Fortress 2 on April 18th, adding sorely needed 64-bit support for Windows and Linux along with some stability updates. One would wonder why the company would even bother with it after 14 years, but that’s just what Valve does.
I think this kind of quality and dedication is what makes the fact that Valve hardly makes games anymore so disappointing to so many gamers. Everything Valve has made has been the peak of quality in its time, and the company steadfastly maintains all its titles.
It’s a little like getting a small peek at how the rest of the AAA industry should be, and that makes the reality just that much more difficult to handle. Anyway, at least we’ve still got the few bangers Valve’s made over the years, right?
Are you a TF2 fan? Is the game as good as it’s ever been or is it time for a sequel? Do you think Valve will ever go for it?
