Even though the denizens of Twitter/X have done their utmost to drum up controversy around it, Stellar Blade is still poised to be one of the PS5’s more major releases this year. Everything shown of it up to this point has made th game look like it’ll be an awesome action thrill ride, and now Shift Up has announced that players will have a fair bit of control over how they experience it. Right from launch, those who pick it up will have their choice of three different graphics modes, ensuring that they’ll get the exact kind of presentation they like best.
As reported by TwistedVoxel.com, Stellar Blade’s game director Hyung-Tae Kim and technical director Dong-Gi Lee mentioned that it’ll hve three graphics modes. First, we hve performance mode, which aims to deliver a consistent 60 fps experience. Aside from that, there’s Resolution mode, which runs at native 4K and 30 fps. As for the third mode, they call it “Balanced Mode,” and it runs at a resolution somewhere between 4K and standard HD with a less consistent 60 fps framerate. The devs also mentioned that the game will be taking advantage of many of the DualSense controller’s special features.
As someone who still doesn’t have a 4K TV, performance mode sound like an absolute win. I love it when games can deliver a 60 fps experience, and I really wish developers would favor that over all this 4K, ray-tracing stuff. I mean sure, the games do look a bit better if you have the super-expensive 4K screen, but 60 fps makes a HUGE difference no matter what kind of screen you’re using. Seriously, why are we still chasing higer definitions so adamantly even now? How much more clear can things get? I mean, stuff is already as crisp as real life. What more do you need??
