For a part of the year that’s usually pretty slow for video games, we sure have been seeing a lot of sales records lately. First, Persona 3 Reload sets an ATLUS record for reaching a million copies in its first week, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth did the same, and now so has Helldivers 2. This last one is a bit surprising for me, because, well, I hadn’t really heard about the game before now.
Helldivers 2 seems to be the kind of game you would get if you crossed the idea of Halo’s ODSTs with the dark comedy of Starship Troopers and the sci-fi co-op gameplay of Destiny. And, it seems that that combination is working quite well. The game is selling well and has been seeing quite a lot of praise online. I still haven’t played it, so I can’t personally attest to whether or not that praise is warranted, but it definitely looks like a good option for those who’re looking for a new co-op game to enjoy with friends.
I’m pretty wrapped up in Persona 3 Reload and Resident Evil 2 Remake right now, so I probably won’t be touching this one for a good minute, but maybe it’ll still end up on the ol’ PlayStation at some point. I’m sure at least one friend will be all about giving it a try.
What do you think of Helldivers 2? Have you been playing it? What’s the most interesting thing about it to you?
