DLC Officially Announced for Final Fantasy XVI

Those hoping for more to do in the world of Final Fantasy XVI are in luck! Recently, producer Naoki Yoshida announced that Final Fantasy XVI is indeed getting some DLC in the future. I absolutely loved Final Fantasy XVI (shortcomings aside), so I se this as an absolute win regardless of what kind of DLC it ends up being. More to do in a good game is always a good thing, right?

As reported by MP1st.com, Yoshida-san confirmed the existence of the DLC during the “Voices of Valisthea” panel at PAX West this past weekend. As is the nature of these sorts of reveals, he didn’t give much in the way of details. However, he did confirm that confirm that two separate paid DLCs are in the works.

Around the time of the announcement, Final Fantasy XVI got a new free update which added some new costumes, some fixes, and a new feature which lets Clive change the appearance o his equipped sword to any other currently in his inventory. That last feature is quite nice, I think, as the game’s ultimate sword looks kinda plain compared to some the weaker swords you get to play around with earlier in the game.

Fan’s have been theorizing what a potential DLC could center around for a while now. Some thought that some prequel content centering around Jill or Clive during their time as captives might be likely, while others say that some sort of post-story DLC would be more likely considering how the game ended. Personally, I suppose I’d like to get a bit more closure, but other than that I’m not sure what else there is to see as far as story content goes. I’d actually be much more interested in some cool optional boss fights!

How about you? What would you like to see from a Final Fantasy XVI DLC? Have you tried the game yet or are you waiting for a sale?
