Phasmophobia Is Getting a Major Rework This Year

It’s looking like horror fans are going to have a pretty good year in 2025. Not only is Tormented Souls II due out sometime this yaer, but now Phasmophobia is confirmed to be getting some major additions, updates and reworks as well. It’s already impressive what Kinetic Games has been able to accomplish with their game, achievement more than 2M sales on consoles alone and 22M total sales, so it’ll be really exciting to see how they continue building on the game moving forward.

Over the next few months, Phasmophobia will be receiving two major updates with “Chronicle” and an overhaul to player characters. “Chronicle” will mostly focus on how the journal and how the Ghost Hunters capture evidence. The “Photos” tab in the menus will be replaced by the “Media” tab, and a new “media” quality system will be introduced that makes it more difficult to just spam the same photos, videos and sound clips to farm money and XP. Also, a new Sound Recorder tool will be added to take sound bytes as evidence.

Two existing maps, Bleasdale Farmhouse and Grafton Farmhouse, are being reworked. These reworks include layout redesigns, new locations for ghosts to haunt, new areas to explore and visual overhauls. There’s also a new, small scale map coming later in the year too. All areas of game will also see tweaks for the Easter, Halloween and Christmas (“Holiday”) seasonal events. Also, it seems that the team has even more planned for 2026, so fans have a lot to look forward to.

I think it’s fantastic to see this kind of dedication to making the experience better for players. Too many of these ongoing multiplayer games settle just for simply plugging in new stuff and leaving the old to rot. I think Warframe is a good example of this too, as it’s repeatedly reinventied itself over the past 10 years or so.
