Ever since the release of the Switch, Nintendo has pretty much been the only game in town for handheld gaming. Yes, there is the Steam Deck, which is a great option for playing PC games on the go, but it’s not exactly in direct competition with Switch in the way that the 3DS and PS Vita were. Well, that might change in a couple years if the latest Sony rumors are true.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Sony is seemingly in the early stages of developing a new PlayStation handheld console. The aim for this new device is for it to be able to play PS5 games, which would make it a significant upgrade to the Switch (and probably even the Switch 2) if it ever launches.
We won’t know for a while, though, because it’s almost certainly years away from release at this point. Still, it’s cool to think that we might have a proper handheld console market again after an almost ten year break.
What do you think about this? Would you be interested in a handheld PS5?
