It seems like another lifetime ago that three bloggers – Hatm0nster, The Duck of Indeed, and myself — came together to form United We Game. The site, which debuted in the spring of 2013, was all about sharing our love of gaming and inviting others to share their own gaming stories. As time went on, the blogosphere changed, the community changed, and so did we. We took on the new moniker “Virtual Bastion” with the new motto “your gaming home away from home,” formulated our own events and started a YouTube channel, all while continuing to talk about games, gaming, and the industry that, mostly for the better, though sometimes for the worse, made it all possible.
Now, if you’re counting, you may be wondering, hey, if 2013 was your first year, wouldn’t this be your site’s 11th anniversary? As a matter of fact, yes! But last year was such a whirlwind, we simply didn’t have the time to mark the occasion. Besides, with 2023 now behind us, we can properly consider the 2013-2023 decade as a whole. With that in mind, to officially celebrate, we’ve planned a two-month extravaganza of posts that reflect on the past — in gaming, here on the site, and how we’ve changed as players — and look towards the future.
Our 10th anniversary bash begins soon, on Saturday, March 9th, and it’ll run weekly through the end of April. The themes we’ll each be covering are:
- A Wild Ride: The Past Decade in Gaming (collaboration)
- Favorite United We Game/Virtual Bastion post or event
- Staying Motivated: What’s kept us going?
- Top five most important gaming events, reveals, controversies, or stories of the past ten years
- The Cream of the Crop: Our Favorite Games of 2013-2023
- Then and Now: Re-examining a post we wrote in 2013 to see if/how our thoughts have changed
- Ten Years On: How have we each changed as players?
- Looking Forward: What do we hope comes of the next ten years in gaming? (collaboration)
Stay on the lookout for our regular content — news, reviews, and highlights from YouTube — in between these celebratory posts. We’ll be contemplating the past, our past, and gaming’s past, while commemorating what we’ve done to bring our love of gaming to you. We thank YOU, our readers, watchers, and supporters for helping us make this site what it is, and for joining us on this journey. Can’t wait for the party to begin!
Congrats on the milestone! Very impressive to have that much longevity. 🙂

Thank you for the kind words. We’re a little stunned ourselves; time flies!
