BloodStained: Ritual of the Night Gets a Release Date!

on

It’s been four years now since Koji Igarashi and his team introduced the world to their vision for a proper spiritual successor to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. That’s four long years of work for the developers and of patience for eager fans. The team never went radio silent, and they were extraordinarily willing to take fan feedback into account. Yet it still felt as though the game would never see a full release…until a few days ago that is. Not only has the game become something beautiful to behold, but it finally has a solid release date too!

Polish makes a world of difference, doesn’t it?

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox On on June 18. Switch owners aren’t getting left out in the cold though, their version launches on June 25.

It’s easy to forget how long it takes to bring a game all the way from concept to finished product, isn’t it? Four years is certainly a long time, but that’s still about how long the average development cycle takes. We’re just not used to being aware of games while they’re still in the concept phase. It’s hard to be this patient under normal circumstances, and it’s become even more so thanks to all the mishaps and outright scams that have come out of Kickstarter in the years since Bloodstained was initially pitched. Here we are though: the game is coming out, it looks fantastic, and it’s sure to scratch that ol’ Castlevania itch that’s had to be neglected for far, far too long. Huzzah!

Are you excited to see Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night finally get its full release? Did you actually back it all those years ago, or did you only just hear about it recently?
